This image is handprinted in a darkroom from a pinhole negative captured in 1997 and enlarged in 2012. Pinhole cameras can be so magical, and this capture did not disappoint with dramatic “solarization” around the edges of the shell.
Pinhole cameras are now considered an "alternative photography” method, but they are actually one of the earliest methods of photography. This image was captured with a Polaroid back on a pinhole box, high-tech/low-tech… at the time. They no longer make that kind of Polaroid film, which is a shame because it was so much fun to work with. I learned about alternative photography methods at the International Center for Photography in New York City, my teacher was Craig Barber.
This will be shipped rolled. I think it's the safest way.
