Beautiful and fine original chromolithographs from 1915, in a light green passepartout and wooden frame with gold border
Taken from Die Schmetterlinge Deutschlands mit besonderer Berücksichtigung ihrer Biologie (“The Butterflies of Germany with special attention to their Biology”), a monumental work by Karl Eckstein, published between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. It is one of the most complete and detailed treatises on German Lepidoptera, famous for its scientific rigor as well as for the quality of the illustrated plates.
Author: Karl Eckstein (1859–1939), German entomologist and professor, known for his in-depth studies on Lepidoptera and their biological cycle.
