The classic design with its strictly vertical structure is underscored by four fluted columns that support the upper drawer and the lower cabinet with its marble interior. Characteristic of the Empire period are the finely gilded brass appliqués, which, as profiled strips, emphasize both the legs and the surfaces and give the piece its prestigious effect. The original top made of reddish-brown marble is finely polished, very high-quality, and displays a vibrant grain in shades of white and gray. The interior lower section of the nightstand is lined with marble – a testament to the high-quality craftsmanship and original use for storing temperature-sensitive objects.
