The chairs are most likely late 19th Century and of European or British origin given the detail of the turning on the dowels of the backrest. These chairs are remarkably robust, compact but weigh very little and capable of accommodating almost any size of dining companion. The frames were given new caning about 5 years ago which gives fantastic visual impact against the lovely patination of the frames. These chairs were a gift from my late-Mother about 30 years ago to compliment a late 18th Century British, gate-leg dining table that now serves as a sideboard and serving table in my home. The dimensions are: 33 1/2" H at top of back, 17" H at seat; seat is 17" W by 16" L; overall L is 18". Serious parties may inquire about the table to purchase as a set. See less
