An extraordinary example of a historic seat, these "Cardinal" model chairs are attributed to Michael Thonet, a pioneer of industrial design and founder of the eponymous Thonet company. Made of steam-bent beech, they feature a seat and backrest in original Vienna straw, perfectly preserved.

Produced before 1890 in Austria, they represent the evolution of the wood bending technique that made the Thonet brand famous throughout the world. The slender lines and high backrest give the chair a timeless elegance, suitable for both classic and contemporary environments.

The piece bears the attribution mark, and is in excellent condition, with minimal traces of use compatible with its age.
