A splendid 19th century cast iron over mantle fireplace mount with the original foxed mirror plate mounted within. This mirror would have been part of a larger presentation with the mirror being the centre piece of the mount. The top features a decorative demi lune design adorned with symmetrical designs to the mirror plate surround with decorative garlands and a two step base. Reassuringly heavy, with two ample brackets either side of the plate for simple hanging options. The back of the mirror is stamped with the cast model number ‘rd-23377’ english, registered and cast circa 1880.
