There is a hush in the eyes—half-closed, otherworldly—of this carved Chikunga mask, worn by the spirits of lineage and the watchers of ritual. From the Chokwe people of the Congo, its surface bears the delicate erosion of time, each line a testament, each carving a cipher. The bamboo coiffure, bound and weathered, juts like a ceremonial halo—remnants of movement, firelight, dust.
This is no mere artifact. It is a vessel of presence, a whisper of tradition carved in hardwood and memory, meant to hold space, to haunt the walls with the breath of a continent’s enduring décor.
