Offered is a vintage 1970s burnished ceramic toucan figurine from Tonalá in Jalisco, Mexico. The province is famed for its earth-tone clay and for all the pottery and ceramic art created since the 1950s.
It features a flower motif on the back and the signature broad stroke agave plant leaves on the front chest, typical of the region, as are the colors, made from natural tints native to the area. Hand-painted and burnished glaze.
