19th century Louis XV style marble topped and ormolu mounted floral marquetry inlaid petite commode. The serpentine rectangular Rouge de France marble top with bull nose carved edge, above three conforming tapered rectangular drawers with rosewood, tulipwood, and other precious woods inlaid blossoming leafy stems within undulating foliate borders, centering stylized shell form escutcheons and paired curling acanthus modeled handles enclosed within leaf tip detailed bronze encadrements, flanked by pierced "C" scrolled rocaille cast bronzes tapering to chute trimmed legs ending in scrolling tipped sabots.
This elegant Louis XV style petite commode closely resembles the work of a mid-18th century Parisian ebeniste Pierre Roussel (maitre 1745) with its' use of colorful woods inlaid floral marquetry and the lively nature of the acanthus leaf and foliate cast bronze mounts.
