This antique Japanese Edo Period dish features Imari decoration which includes hand painted polychrome enamel accents. The piece has a low shallow form with fluted walls and a scalloped edge. The face of the dish bears an unusual central medallion motif consisting of underglaze cobalt blue floral and foliate motifs with hand painted iron red highlights. The medallion is surrounded by alternating blue and white panels which also bear colorful floral and foliate details.
The dish is in very good antique condition with no cracks or repairs. As an antique item, the dish shows signs of age consisting of wear to the decoration which are mentioned for accuracy. The plate is 9.5 inches wide and 1.25 tall.
