As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of occasionally, IF JUST RIGHT, combining American glass with French hardware, adding to the various successful matches made in Heaven.
And of course that's just what we have here.
French styling from this period was so advanced, so steeped in the long history of excellence in all things artistic.
This is a simple design (as so often the best are) and the materials are: the typical solid brass and in this case, wood.
The American "custard glass" shades are typical of American styling from The Period, meant to adorn, usually, a 5-ligh chandelier. As you can clearly see from the photos, the light when on is particularly attractive, emitting a warm and friendly glow.
I leave it up to you to determine whether you like the antique quality of the brass, which during its 100 years or more has various blemishes caused by intrusions in the lacquer that was originally applied to the brass to keep it shiny.
Easiest sconce in the world to install! Just screw into the wall a screw that (preferably) has a
rounded head. After hooking up the wires from the sconces to the wires in the wal, place the sconce over the screw and let gravity do the rest. Voila, how simple...
As you can see, American candelabra sockets have been installed and each will support a 60-watt bulb or less. Obviously, rewired.
Dimensions: About 15 inches wide with the shades on, and about 11 top to bottom. Projects about 7 inches from the wall.
