Charming petite oil painting by UK artist Merrow-Smith on canvas board, framed and ready to hang. Loosely painted like a quick sketch with small exposed areas, which accentuates the laziness of the day and the languidness of the heat. From his renowned “Postcards from Provence” series. Signed on recto in new custom frame. Certificate of authenticity on reverse.
Julian Merrow-Smith is a listed British painter living in Provence in the South of France. His paintings have been exhibited in Britain, France and the United States. He has twice been selected for the BP Portrait Award (2017 & 1999) at the National Portrait Gallery, London. He has shown at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (2002 & 2004), London and was selected for the New Contemporaries exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London.
In February 2005, Julian started his famous series of paintings from the South of France, “Postcard from Provence”, which has been featured in The New York Times, The Times, USAToday, The Guardian and The Sunday Telegraph.
