A striking near pair of French mid-century etageres in the Maison Jansen style, blending classical form with bold materials – brass, steel, and glass – for a look that’s both refined and distinctive.
This elegant near pair of French mid-century etageres is attributed to the esteemed Parisian design firm Maison Jansen, known for its sophisticated fusion of classical form and modern materials. Crafted from patinated steel with brass detailing, each piece showcases neoclassical motifs including ram’s head finials, hoof feet, and crossed side supports with central rosettes.
Stylistically, the etageres reflect the Hollywood Regency taste for glamour and symmetry, while their mixed metal construction nods to industrial elegance. Though not identical, the two display as a visually compelling pair. One is slightly taller, with small variations in shelf fittings, screw heads, and patina (one cooler, one warmer in tone).
Together they offer both presence and function – perfect for a grand living room or formal library, or as dramatic entryway anchors. Each unit includes six glass shelves for ample display.

The two etageres are a near pair, with slight differences in height, shelf construction, screw hardware, and steel finish – one with a cooler tone, the other warmer. The brass components show attractive patina and some surface wear, particular at the feet. Glass shelves are structurally sound; a few have small edge chips that are not visible when in place and do not affect usability. Both pieces are sturdy, elegant, and ready for display. less
