Founded in 1877 and producing furniture for over a century, Mengel Furniture is known for producing high-quality wooden furniture with mid-century modern designs. These dressers are part of the Mengel "Permanized" collection which is a term coined by the company to describe their high-quality manufacturing techniques and particularly the durability of their furniture. This term meant their furniture was constructed using methods that ensured joints and veneers would remain strong and intact over time.

Raymond Loewy (1893-1986), a prominent designer of the era, designed this dresser for Mengel. Loewy was a French-born American industrial designer. While most famous for his designs in products, corporate identity, and public transportation, he also designed furniture. The furniture he specifically designed for Mengel Furniture Company is highly regarded and most collected today.

Both dressers have authentic Permanized Mengel Furniture stamps on drawer interiors and are provided in the photos. See less
