A captivating and finely crafted vintage Moroccan box, made circa 1900, fashioned from richly figured burled Amboyna wood. Designed in the form of a stacked set of antique books, this charming piece disguises its true function with remarkable artistry and precision. The deep, swirling grain of the Amboyna burl is showcased across the top, sides, and carved "spines," offering exceptional warmth and texture.
The box opens on discreet brass hinges to reveal a red felt-lined interior, ideal for storing jewelry, small keepsakes, or personal treasures. A hidden keyhole subtly incorporated into the design adds to its mystery and old-world charm.
Perfect for a collector of curiosities or a connoisseur of fine woodcraft.
This box exemplifies the traditional Moroccan appreciation for intricate woodworking and secret compartments, blending function with decorative elegance. An excellent desktop accessory, gift, or accent atop a fine console or library shelf.
