The LaVernes were pioneering American designers who blurred the line between fine art and functional furniture. Their "Chan" series, introduced in the late 1950s, was inspired by ancient Chinese art and mythology. The table's circular table top features an intricate Chinoiserie scene-a tableau of figures, pavilions, and landscapes- acid etched and patinated into a surface of bronze and pewter. Table is hand-colored to achieve a rich, timeworn patina. The tabletop rests on an octagonal pedestal base. Table will make a statement piece in various interior settings, including the living room or foyer.
