This expressive armchair was produced by Bow Wood in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, just outside Paris. The frame is built from bent laminated wood with a dark, worn finish that shows the grain and age of the material. The armrests are sculpted from solid wood and shaped to follow the curve of the arms, giving the chair a strong and almost architectural character. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a yellow canvas, fixed with visible tacks and supported underneath by sinuous steel springs and jute webbing — a typical construction method of the time.
