An exceptional carved antique Qing dynasty hardwood altar cabinet or coffer table. Handcrafted of elm wood in traditional Chinese style using moritse and tenon joinery, it features high everted top ends, two upper drawers and one lower cabinet space with with hand-forged brass pulls and faceplate with locking pin. The bracket-like spandrels are heavily carved with phoenix and reticulated flowers and the long base panel showcases foo dogs flanking a central fireball. The wood is beautifully grained with a dark finish and natural patina.
