Think that only with ornately sculpted vegetables and as a casserole..the lid fits perfectly on top. It's difficult to see in the picture because there's a textured glass bottom- i assume to help the casserole in blace. It would be from the 40s or 50s. There are slight flaws on the outline of the inside of the lid- tiny inclusions. I wouldn't lick the bottom as it might hurt your tongue- but who would do that to begin with? Please see pictures as they are a vital portion of the description. See less
