Fritz (1920–1986), a pioneering figure in the American studio glass movement. Robert C. Fritz was a key early innovator in American glass art. After earning his Ph.D. in ceramics and glass from Ohio State University, he participated in a pivotal 1964 glass seminar led by Harvey Littleton and Erwin Eisch—an event that helped define the studio glass movement in the U.S. Fritz went on to found the glass art program at San Jose State University, making lasting contributions to both education and contemporary glass practice. His work has been exhibited nationally and collected by institutions including the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
