It has beautifully detailed doors … Read more This is a handsome late 18th-century hand-carved and hand-built armoire with a light oak finish. It has beautifully detailed doors and side panels and a dramatic crown moulding that can be removed for transport. It was retrofitted in the 1960s with seven well-built gentleman’s drawers on the right side and four shelves on the left.
The doors lock, the handmade escutcheons and keys are not original but were replaced long ago. One of the escutcheons is set incorrectly because the keyhole is upside down, an amusing quirk. There are four beautiful 11.75" long barrel hinges with finial ends.
