A pair of Victorian waxwork baskets of fruit in a gilt shadow frame. The pair are extremely similar yet have variations which makes them more interesting. The gilt frames are of the Victorian time period and the glass is of the period.
There is ware to each piece and some melting of the fruit but overall the pieces are in great condition.
They are truly collectible items and are not frequently encountered.
This art form of modeling/molding real fruit with wax (paraffin) created realistic pieces and wonderful still life presentations. It is amazing they have survived for such a long time.
