A 1959 mixed media painting by the American artist Walter Stomps (1929-2020). This abstract work is dominated by a curving mass of clustered shapes in pink, orange, yellow, and green against a cream background. The piece is displayed in a black frame and a white mat and is signed and dated on the lower right.
Walter Stomps, Jr. was a modernist artist who explored the connectivity through music and art in his work. He rejected the rigid nature of realism, instead using color, shape, and rhythmic brushstrokes to create abstraction.
