The harmonious rounded form (32 cm in height and diameter) displays a subtle interplay of natural hues - from warm reddish-brown to deep gray - with unique ash glazes that dance across the surface like abstract artworks. These distinctive effects emerged during the intensive 10-day firing process in a traditional anagama wood kiln, where fire, ash, and clay engaged in their own dialogue.

As a third-generation Bizen master, Motoyama perfected the art of achieving maximum expression through minimal intervention. His work is internationally celebrated for this timeless quality and is held in important museum collections.

This vase, signed by the artist himself, comes with the original tomobako (Japanese wooden storage box) and documentation.
