Beautiful oil on panel work by a very close artist Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot.
It depicts, in his typical style, a suggestive view of the surroundings of Naples with figures in the foreground and Vesuvius in the background.

Looking at this small masterpiece, one seems to hear the words of the artist himself: "This sun gives off a light that makes me despair. It makes me feel the utter powerlessness of my palette."

In the original frame now lost, there was a label with the words "Ecole Corot" as per the attached photos.

This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important French private collection.

Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (16 July 1796– 22 February 1875), or simply Camille Corot, was a French landscape and portrait painter as well as a printmaker in etching.
A pivotal figure in landscape painting, his vast output simultaneously referenced the Neo-Classical tradition and anticipated the plein-air innovations of Impressionism.

The painting is sold unframed This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
