This beautiful, handcrafted piece is made of solid brass and features an oval drip pan, loop handle with thumb rest, and a fully-working push-up mechanism in the center column to raise/lower the candle and remove wax. This pre-electricity candle holder would have been an essential household item -- lighting the way to family bedchambers after dark. Although there is no maker's mark and the provenance is unknown, it appears to date from the mid-19th century. A gorgeous antique piece both for collectors and design enthusiasts! See less
