A wonderful representation of the work of Rene Couturier (1933-2008), dated 1969. Colorful and abstract. It is a large work with a substantial frame that will be the focal point of any room. Few of his original paintings are available for sale.
Rene Couturier is known for abstract still life, figure and landscape painting. He was born in Dieppe, Normandy, and attended the École des Beaux-Arts of Marseilles. He is described as an expressive colorist, giving his canvases a jewel-like quality. His painting incorporate abstract and cubist elements. He was represented in several group and salon shows in the 1950s and 1960s. He lived lived in Mexico, the United States, Africa and France and exhibited internationally with success.
