Her face–smooth with an unflinching stare–jumps out from the dark emerald background; she is modestly dressed in black with a small red boutonniere on her lapel, the same hue as the crimson chair and tablecloth to her left. One slippered foot rests delicately on a floor cushion in front of her with the small dog occupying its own cushion to her right. Signed and dated by the artist Nils Forsberg to the upper right corner. The panel is set within a gold gilt frame of similar age and condition.
