This set of niine (9) diminutive early 20th century (1903) British lithographs (offset) depict color scenes of bizarre 19th century (and earlier) British sports.. These were originally drawn by the well listed world famous English artist Henry Alken. Printed on one side only. Printed in London in 1903. Over 120 years old. Great color and composition. These images were originally drawn by Alken for his well known book "National Sports of Great Britain". Dimensions: Approx. 6.25" x 3".
The title page is not for sale but may be printed out if so desired.
Henry Alken (England 1785 - 1851) was the son and pupil of Samuel Alken Sr. and became a prolific painter of British sporting works, including hunting, coaching, racing and steeplechasing scenes. He wrote the book National Sports of Great Britain and his work was frequently copied by his son, Henry Jr.
