This ‘Liljan’ or ‘Lily’ candle holder in solid polished and patinated brass was designed for the World Fair in New York in 1939 by sculptor and designer Ivar Ålenius Björk (1905-1978). Originally made by Ystad-Metall, but more recently also made by Skultuna. This candle holder or soliflore vase (it features the optional glass insert vase) is one of the later ones, made by Skultuna. Although it is of a later date, the polished brass has already gained a wonderful light patination. In great vintage condition. Signed at the base and on the top part of the base. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
