Bold oil still life by renown Southwestern US artist Douglas Denniston @ 1977.
Douglas Denniston (1922-2004) was a patriarch of Southwestern modernist art, having lived in and been inspired by New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. He taught painting at the University of Arizona and his work spanned a wide range of modernism -- from geometrics to impressions of nature. All feature his bold use of color. His work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Denver Art Museum, and the Phoenix Art Museum, among others, as well as private collections.
