A 2000 mixed media painting by the American artist Doris Vlasek-Hails (1938-2004). Titled "Turandot, Timur," this abstract work depicts a colorful figure after the character Timur from Puccini opera Turandot. Signed, dated, and titled to the lower edge, the painting is displayed in a black frame and a white mat.
Doris Vlasek-Hails was born in Chicago during an upswing of abstracted design. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Vlasek-Hails went on to teach at modern-day Herron School of Art and Design, as well as opening the Indianapolis art gallery Woodburn and Westcott Contemporary Fine Art.
