On offer is an original illustration of a flowing elegant costume design created for actress Ruth Kobart, by Lewis Brown (1928-2011). The actress was dressed in this garment as she played "Lady Hurf" in the final scene of "Thieves Carnival." The show was produced at the American Conservatory Theater in 1967. The illustration not only shows a fully developed frontal view, but also a sketch of how the designer viewed the flow of the gown from the side.
Lewis was a well-known and widely respected designer. Kobart was an A.C.T. acting company member from 1967 through the 1990s, notable for performing as the original "Miss Jones" in both the Broadway and film productions of the acclaimed musical "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying."
