It depicts a Keris board. Keris boards were created to protect a home, as they depict a guardian that has been carved from wood and then painted into the design. The body of the guardian is slightly raised about 1/8 of an inch from the board. It is highly detailed with the individual wearing a mask and swirls and geometric patterns, it carries to weapons and its hands and has a long flowing garment that repeats patterns of swirls and geometric designs. The colors are very muted, and moody. They are deep, browns, olive greens, and some beige and black. The frame is constructed in a primitive fashion of wood, and it is stained and painted a deep green.

This piece has an overall distressed vibe, it does have some loss of paint to the surface, the amount is one would expect from its age and it’s use. The frame is rustic and does have a couple nails at the top better visible. See less
