They came from … Read more This is a VERY RARE SET of 3 antigue botanical chromolithographs that date to the late 1800s. They came from a Belgium collaborative of horticulturists and field botanists who worked with the prestigious chromolithographer, P de Pannemaeker. Together they showcased over 1100 species of orchids and plants. The botanical studies were published between 1887-1893 in the monthly publication, L'Illustration Horticole. These 3 chromolithographs came from these series. Belgium was the leading center of botanical publications in the later part of the 19th century. Pannemaeker was the watercolor artist who hand finished the lithos. The orchids are shown growing in their natural habitats. They have strong color, done on cream tone paper. The paper is clean and in excellent antique contidition. Very minor aging is noted on the edges as seen in photos. 10.5 x 13.5 inches in size. Shown in horizontal format. It is highly unusual to find 3 such images together! See less
