This very old Japanese drawer dates back to the late Edo to Meiji period (1820–1912).
Originally used in merchant shops rather than in ordinary households, the piece features a traditional black finish.
Crafted from cedar wood and fitted with iron handles, it reflects the practical yet refined design typical of that era.
It is rare for furniture made in Japan.
