The piece has 3 tiers/baskets with a … Read more Here is a fantastic, antique Chinese wedding basket made with woven, lacquered bamboo. The piece has 3 tiers/baskets with a domed lid at the top. A thick bamboo handle is integrated into the structure and provides stability and an easy to carry base for the baskets. As you can see, there are beautiful, and detailed metal pieces on the top of the handle, and there is a marking on the side of the basket. These pieces were used to transporting food and gifts on behalf of a bride and her family on her wedding day. The multiple layers signify prosperity and a harmonious union. The finish is a reddish brown. See less
