This Antique European case is very interesting.
I brought this with me from The Netherlands when I moved to the U.S.
The purpose of this cabinet can be of different things.
It could have been used as a table top Secretary or writing desk, similar to the Plantation desks here in the U.S., however because it has a glass door, it is not to write on.
It could also have been used as a display cabinet for a store or in the home.
Another suggestion could have been an Apothecary cabinet where medicines were stored.
For present use, it would make also a beautiful humidor for the cigar enthusiasts.
The cabinet is made with different kinds of woods. The sides, top and door frame are oak or mahogany and the bottom, backside and drawers are made of pine.
The backside and the bottom of the drawers all have different thickness of the wood, which determines it is made by hand.
I think at one point in history they have changed the glass and the lock. The lock looks Victorian era, which would indicate that the cabinet dates perhaps from this era or before.
A beautiful one-of-its-kind unique piece.
The cracks in the wood on the sides and top are the natural working of the wood through time. The cabinet is sturdy and the hinges work perfectly, as does the lock.

The patina on the wood on the bottom and the back have scuffs. The top, sides, front and the interior are in good condition. The wooden sides show natural cracks of the wood working over time, but the cabinet is sturdy. I have not polished the cabinet, but it may benefit from a polishing. I did not want to alter its natural patina. The backside of the top have some indentations, see picture of the backside. less
