This is a cool two-volume boxed set of The World of the Atom from 1966. The books have bright red cloth covers with those great mid-century style title panels, and they look very smart and collected displayed together. They come in the original slipcase, which has that classic ’60s graphic design.
The set covers the history and science of atomic theory, with essays edited by Henry A. Boorse and Lloyd Motz. It was published by Basic Books, which produced a lot of well-designed academic and scientific titles during this period. It’s both decorative and genuinely interesting if you like vintage science books. Makes a great shelf piece or a little accent for a desk or office.

You can certainly read them! Pages appear crisp and I don't see writing or foxing. The slipcover shows some wear, especially to corners. Light fading/wear to spines. less
