This exquisite oil painting by renowned artist Sean Farrell captures the timeless beauty of a traditional still life. Influenced by the Italian and Dutch masters of the 17th century, Farrell’s work is celebrated for its rich color palette, masterful handling of light, and refined composition.
At the heart of the painting is a striking blue and white ceramic vase, delicately rendered and set against a moody, dark background. Arranged before it are warm-toned fruits — likely apricots or peaches — resting on a deep red draped surface. The dramatic lighting highlights the texture and form of each element, creating a vivid sense of realism.
Presented in a sophisticated black wood frame with an ornate gold inner border and illuminated by an attached picture light, this piece is both a work of fine art and a statement of classic interior style. Sean Farrell’s paintings are collected nationally and internationally, and this piece is a fine example of his luminous, old-world technique.

About the Artist: Sean Farrell
Sean Farrell is an internationally recognized artist celebrated for his luminous oil paintings and timeless still life compositions. Growing up in a small town with limited access to formal art education, Farrell began drawing at a young age and found inspiration through library books and museum visits. Immersing himself in the works of the Old Masters, he taught himself to paint in oils in the late 1980s. His pursuit of excellence led him to a pivotal workshop in New Mexico in the early 1990s, where he connected with professional artists who encouraged his transition to a full-time career.
Rather than enrolling in traditional art school, Farrell chose to travel extensively throughout Italy and Europe, studying the masterworks of 17th-century Italian and Dutch painters firsthand. This self-guided classical education profoundly shaped his style — a modern interpretation of Old Master techniques marked by rich, jewel-like color, refined detail, and a deep sensitivity to light.
Farrell’s work has garnered international attention. He was invited to exhibit at the prestigious Florence Biennale in Italy, where NYARTS Magazine praised his paintings as “eye-catching with [their] dramatically bold colors mixed with delicate detail in a very modern old-master style.”
Today, Sean Farrell’s paintings are held in private collections across the United States and Europe, admired for their grace, elegance, and technical mastery.
