This is a small ceramic vase created as a souvenir for the coronation of King Edward the 8th of Great Britain. Edward, Prince of Wales, as he was known when his father died in 1936 became King of England upon his father’s death. Many souvenirs were produced to celebrate his accession to the throne but he abdicated prior to his coronation so he could marry the woman he loved, Baltimore native, Wallis Warfield Simpson. This small vase is not as common as the teacups and beakers usually found bearing his image and would be sweet filled with forget-me-nots. See less
