The drawer has … Read more C.1987-88; Custom, Hand-crafted Console with inset central drawer, made of solid cherry wood, honed and satin finished. The drawer has dovetail details, as close-up image indicates. The Minimalist, Zen-like look, yet Arts and Crafts style ALSO lends itself to, and a nod of influence(s) of George Nakashima. The piece was from one of the many Skilled Craftsmen, that were educated under the Auspices, of Wendell Castle, within R.I.T's School of American Craftsmen, in Rochester, NY., but Mr. Castle, whom chaired and was the proponent for R.I.T. (Rochester Institute of Technology, having implemented such a Department. Thus grew to involve many aspects of wood-working, acumens of students, whom went on to their own, trajectory of Crafts produced of furniture and sculpture, which has been parlayed into, a well-revered program within R.I.T. and the United States, for it's sculptural, furniture and industrial design program(s). BY which once it was fully realized, Wendell Castle stepped away and became a visiting Professor, while in the throes of a Huge expansion into Furniture Design for the Trade Industry. The Student, who produced this pieces is Scott Auberger, a Student of Castle's at R.I.T (Rochester Institute of Technology).

The vertical Legs on the outward end come OFF when, and if need Shipping and/or transporting, given the stilted legs to protect the piece. CLOSE-UP IMAGE 2nd. to last, showcases the underneath section of one side, THE OUTER END BLACK PORTION SECTION, has 2 screws, on the END on each BLACK SECTION, RIGHT and LEFT come off to slide off the legs from the top. LAST Images showcases the entirety of the underside, to gage the 2 black sections, whereupon (OUTER end of the 2 Screws come off to remove or dismantle the Console for Movement/Shipping, etc. See less
