This is a small, portable, and decorative table, with a round top supported by a central column. The circular top is veneered in a warm, light blonde wood, arranged in a symmetrical butterfly-wing pattern and framed by fine beaded bronze trim. A central figural column of bronze and wood supports the top and rises from a square wood base, set on four bronze ball feet.

The guéridon first appeared in 17th-century France and was originally designed to hold a candle, vase, or other decorative object. This versatile table continues that tradition, making an elegant occasional table or stand for sculpture, florals, or display pieces.
