This original 1930s task floor lamp is a fully functional quack medical device by ZOREX.
It features an adjustable height spring-loaded telescoping arm on a stationary pole supported by a cast iron weighted base.
The on/off toggle is located near the gooseneck arm. A red brass plaque notes "to be used only by or on the prescription of a physician."
The Adjustable Fixture Company manufactured this unique lamp in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As the name suggests, this floor lamp is adjustable—both in height and the position of the shade, which is attached to a gooseneck arm. The reflecting lamp shade is made of spun aluminum. Currently, it stands at 63" tall, but it may be adjusted. A black wood handle at the shade's top allows easy movement.
We have tested it and it raises and lowers correctly and turns on and off.
This is an unconventional piece, ideal as a reading or task lamp. See less
