Make a bold statement with this striking tessellated stone mask sculpture by renowned Mexican artist Joseph A. De Castro. Crafted circa 1970s–1990s, this Cubist-inspired piece showcases De Castro’s signature technique of intricate stone and marble inlay, combining richly hued natural stone and marble to create a stylized abstract face full of expression and depth. Accented with dangling copper-tone earrings, the sculpture is mounted on a faceted pyramidal base of polished travertine or stone and anchored by a central metal rod. The result is a dramatic, totem-like presence that reads as both fine art and sculptural decor. Signed and numbered on the reverse (50 of 150), this rare work reflects De Castro’s unique vision and mastery of form, geometry, and material.
