An epergne is a type of table centerpiece that is usually made of silver but may be made of any metal or glass or porcelain. It is generally considered a large central bowl or basket that has supporting branches or small baskets, or even candleholders. It was usually used to hold any type of food or dessert, even used as a decorative object to hold candles, flowers, or ornaments. Traditionally, an epergne was used as a fancy way to display side dishes, fruit, or sweetmeats.
Coralene glass is a Victorian form of decoration on glass. A design was painted onto the glass with a thick enamel paint, and tiny glass balls were applied to the surface, then re-heated so they partially melted into the surface. The results being similar to the rough surface of coral.
