This light and airy image is done in the Bistre style where a brown glaze is painted over a white canvas or board and then 'wiped out' to create the highlights. In this case it is a gesso board with texture. The attention to detail is exquisite where the artist has taken the Bistre style a step further in creating the detail interweaving of the birds nest.

The artwork is custom framed with a beveled, chestnut and black speckled finish. The artist signature is Frances Cooper, 1975. She may be an unknown artist, but she was well known to me. This piece was created by my late mother, Frances Cooper. See her other collected works within my shop.
