The note in Romanian taped to the back of this original oil painting tells the story. The painting depicts the Nibelungen Bridge over the Rhine River in Worms, Rhineland, Germany. Painted by El Paso, Texas born artist, Anny Appel, 1961. It states she was known for her portraits, but this painting was most likely painted from a photograph.
The image depicts an angular view of the bridge and it's stately clock watchtower in various shades of blues dotted with colorful dwellings on the rivers' shore. The image is surrounded by a cream linen inset custom framed in a rough hewn, beveled walnut frame. There is normal wear and tear commensurate with age.
