Absolutely stunning and rare piece of maritime history, late 19th - early 20th century tub chair made specifically for seagoing cruise liner use.
Deck hook attachment to underside, striking black and gold velvet fabric believed to be original, solid structure construction believed to be of mahogany.
Maker unknown but Cunard and White Star photos of the era show very similar chairs in use.
Front seat face and front legs do show signs of previous repair, and would benefit from restoration as there is a wood crack and some loose movement to front right leg. Fine as display piece, but for actual use, restoration would be necessary.
Original seat strapping to underside, would recommend keeping if re-upholstery is desired, although we recommend keeping upholstery as is since condition is very good, no stains or odors.
Overall seat measurement is 22.25 x 19 x 31.5 inches
