They are engraved with he dates 1877 and 1902, so it could have been a birthday gift or an anniversary gift. There are initials engraved as well, which appear to be C.A. The brush measures 9.63 L x 3.5 W x 1.5 H, and the other brush measures 7.25 L x 1.75 W x 1.75 H. See less
